1-on-1 Test Prep Tutoring

Why choose 1-on-1 test prep?

  • 1-on-1 sessions will give your student a more individualized experience and allow them to move at their own pace as needed.  
  • If they only need to focus on certain areas of their chosen test or want the focus to be on achieving a targeted goal instead of overall improvement, 1-on-1 tutoring will allow for that flexibility more easily than a group class.
  • If your student prefers a quieter environment with less/no outside distractions or if they're more comfortable working through challenges or asking questions 1-on-1, then they would likely be more comfortable working with a test prep tutor individually.
  • 1-on-1 test prep would also more readily accommodate a busier student with an unpredictable schedule.

  • Does your student (or do you) already have starting SAT and/or ACT scores?  (PSAT and/or Pre-ACT scores also count!)  If not, the first step will be to schedule diagnostic testing with us so that we have starting scores to work from.  It is best to have a baseline score for both the SAT and ACT in order for us to choose which test aligns best with the student's preferences, goals, and learning style(s).  This can also be done by scheduling a call at the link above or emailing Michelle.


What can you expect from our 1-on-1 test prep tutoring?

  • Our 1-on-1 SAT and ACT tutoring is tailored to meet your student's specific needs and goals.  Once we have baseline and goal scores, we work with you to create a goal timeline.  This will take many factors into account, including specific college/university's application deadlines, wanting to have a less stressful senior year, working around a busy schedule, and more.

  • While test prep tutoring doesn't include full college consulting, we do work with your student to find important dates/deadlines and go over the pros and cons of the schools they're looking to apply to.  If they're looking for more intensive college counseling, we can also recommend independent educational consultants both local to the area and available online!

  • Typical score increases are about 150 SAT points and 4 ACT points for 24 hours of tutoring (8 hours per subject).  This can translate to a timeline of anywhere from 3-12 months of test prep tutoring depending on the student's starting scores, goal scores, and amount of time they are available each week.

  • Our sessions can be held in person at our downtown office or virtually on zoom - whatever fits best with your student's schedule!

  • We typically continue with test prep tutoring until your student has met their goal(s).  For all of these reasons, our tutoring is billed hourly ($75/hr) instead of using one-size fits all packages.

This summer, we are excited to launch SAT and ACT small group classes!  Both classes go in-depth on their respective tests and are set-up to prepare for the first test date of the 2026-2027 school year. 

Add-ons are also available to prepare for optional test sections and subsequent test date(s), as well.
