Whether your student is behind in a specific subject, struggling with organization, or even excelling in a certain area, we will create a targeted plan using techniques that are specific to your student's unique personality and needs. We match tutors based on your child’s specific needs, learning style, and academic goals. We consider the tutor's expertise in the subject area and their ability to connect with your child. Our goal is to ensure a good fit to make the tutoring experience as effective and enjoyable as possible.

Our tutors are highly qualified with relevant degrees, certifications, and teaching experience. Many hold advanced degrees or have specialized training in their subject areas. We also look for tutors with a proven track record of helping students achieve their academic goals.

How does the tutoring process work?

How will I know if tutoring is working?

The tutoring process typically begins with an initial assessment to identify your child’s strengths and areas for improvement. Based on this assessment, we create a personalized tutoring plan. Sessions are then scheduled according to your availability, and progress is regularly reviewed to ensure that goals are being met.

Tutoring sessions typically last between 60 minutes, but the duration can be adjusted based on your child’s needs and attention span. The frequency of sessions can vary; some students benefit from weekly sessions, while others may need more or less depending on their academic goals and progress.

We track your child’s progress through regular assessments and feedback from both the tutor and your child. We also encourage open communication with parents to discuss any concerns and adjust the tutoring plan as needed. Success is measured not only by improved grades but also by increased confidence and understanding.

What should my child bring to tutoring sessions?

Your child should come to tutoring sessions with any relevant textbooks, assignments, and notes. It’s also helpful to bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. If you’re doing online tutoring, ensure that your child has a quiet, distraction-free space and any necessary technology.

Absolutely! We offer specialized test preparation services for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and state assessments. Our tutors provide targeted practice, test-taking strategies, and review sessions to help your child perform their best.

Yes, we provide customized tutoring to support students with various special needs. Our tutors are trained to work with diverse learning styles and requirements. We collaborate with you to ensure that the tutoring approach is tailored to meet your child’s specific needs.

Scheduling & Session Policies

What are your cancellation policies?

What happens if I need to change at short notice?

What if my student is sick or we have an emergency?

Cancel with 48 hours or more before your session and you are not charged. If this happens for 25% of your sessions in a 2 month period we will discuss finding a schedule that works better for you or ending your contract.

Cancel with less than 48 hours notice and you are still charged for that session. Your tutor will make their best effort to reschedule the session.

We understand kids get sick and emergencies happen. Please let your tutor know ASAP. We give a grace of 1 short notice cancellations due to an emergency per 9 weeks.

What if I need to pause or end my tutoring?

What should the student expect during a session?

We require a two weeks notice to pause or end tutoring. This allows us to eliminate large gaps in a tutor's
schedule.

We know the effectiveness of in person sessions, so for families with a busier schedule we often recommend meeting once a week in person and once a week virtually. This way we don’t compromise the efficacy of the sessions and have the flexibility that may be needed for your family. 

The student should be prepared to review the subject material that’s been requested. Come prepared with his/her notes, any homework, pencil, paper, and any other tools he/she might need to complete the lesson. The tutor will review the lesson and continue to practice to ensure understanding.

How do I communicate with my child’s tutor?

We encourage regular communication between parents and tutors. You can discuss your child’s progress, share feedback, and address any concerns through scheduled meetings, emails, or phone calls. Open communication helps ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goals.

Getting started is simple! Contact us to schedule an initial consultation where we’ll discuss your child’s needs, goals, and the best tutoring options for them. From there, we’ll set up an assessment and begin matching your child with a suitable tutor.

What Types of scholarships do you accept?

The cost of tutoring varies depending on the subject, level, and frequency of sessions. We strive to offer competitive rates and provide a clear breakdown of costs upfront. Our sessions start at $50 an hour. 

We work with scholarship programs such as the Unique Abilities, New Worlds, and PEP Scholarships to help make tutoring more affordable. Be sure to ask about available financial assistance options!
